OUR CONCEPT
Every Piece of Fabric has its home
PatchWorks proudly presents our workshops. Our workshops involve a variety of arts, crafts and hands-on unique experiences for our participants. Take part in workshops for acting, painting and spiritual guidance lessons, all available at Patchworks.
Some of these workshops include:

EXPRESSIONS IN ART

INTRODUCTION TO WOMEN'S HEALTH

ACTING THE PART
Anyone can attend, but there are separate free classes for the homeless. In this instructed session, participants tell their story, however they interpret that. Justine Cogan will lead this workshop.

How does this help our guests?: Expressions in Art allows our guests to tell their stories as a form of therapy, catharsis and freedom to tell their stories however they wish.
Spirituality and everyday health: covering the importance of mental health, menstruation and its interconnected nature with spirituality.

How does this help our guests?: A key aspect of our approach here at PatchWorks is that we aim to take a different approach in how we help the homeless that attend our classes.
In Introduction to Women's Health, our core goal is to help educate and properly advise our guests on embracing menstruation, its aspects and how it connects with spirituality. This can inform our guests on better health practices.
An expression of individuality in the face of the homeless stereotypes people place on them, using guided acting classes to express creativity and help bring themselves a sense of their own identity removed from their homelessness. This workshop will be led by actress Maree Lowes, Australian actress.

How does this help?: Acting the part allows us to help encourage our guests to build confidence and a form of expressionism both physical and emotionally.

THE TAILOR SHOP
Here in the Tailor Shop we welcome our resident artists to work on their masterpieces. In this open space, artists have access to everything they can dream of. Easels, paint brushes, painting materials and industrial sinks are available, ready for use. Our resident artists, in turn, help our homeless visitors with guidance, tips and lessons in helping them express their stories and feelings in a safe, inclusive space.

Here, when guests complete their works of our they are placed up in the gallery in the Tailor Shop, where anyone can choose to make a gold coin donation to purchase their works.

THE DYE SHOP
At Patchworks we plan to provide a space for those suffering from homelessness to find a sense of support and community.
The Dye shop will be open to facilitate medical and financial consultations as well as offering advice and transport to anyone in need. This will be the focal point for our attempts to create employment opportunities for our guests.

We hope to show the community and our guests that we are all just a painting in progress.
